Last year we got five plane tickets to from YYT to Orlando and a pool house for under $3000 Canadian. It would have cost at least three times that much anywhere else. That's why Florida. Not this year, though. Or next. Or maybe ever.

Tony has kept live music alive in this city for more than a generation. Nice to see him recognized.

I would substitute 'worrying a lot less' for luxurious. A lot of my friends are artists/entreoreneurs/food people, and they are under tremendous financial strain. They value their family's lives too, but also see the train coming at them.

Last time I bought a car my daughter spilled a whole box of Cheerios she somehow got open, literally on the way home from the dealers. Still finding them.

The cheerios and crushed goldfish and mitts from the winter will absorb the water.

2/Schools in much of rural NL are nowhere near as crowded, with social distancing relatively easy. A one-size fits all solution was never practical.

1/ Another reality - there is a huge discrepancy between schools in St. John;s and elsewhere in terms off capacity. Schools in town are almost all very full, with social distancing almost impossible.

Truth. And that in turn affects how a lot of people look at this. The self-employed & entrepreneurs have few options.

The split between the 'shut it all down' crowd & the 'we're going broke' crowd is real. The most skilled & resourceful people in this province are not compelled to stay, Covid or not. if the economy gets too bad, the taxes too high, the restrictions too narrow, they just leave.

A haunting tribute to women who faced hardship with resolute determination. Their spirit still lives in the Big Land, and in song. Terra Bruce is pleased to present Woman of Labrador, performed by & the Terra Bruce Band. 🔊

The chains have diagnostic & point of sale software local operators can only dream of. The bigger high volume operations can also spread small price increases over 1000s of transactions. When they bail you know times are tough.

I really, really fear for this place when the CERB ends, and at some point it will. One night's crowd on George ST does not make up for an entire year with food/beverage/tourism/entertainment flat-lined.
