The crime that got the jail time was not slander; it was the harassment and incitement. Those are obviously criminal not civil matters. Laws against instigating violence are not “totalitarian”. (And Russia is kind of an odd exemplar to hold up of press freedom...)

I hadn't realised JVL were on stage at SWP/SUTR demo. I noticed Dave Rosenberg was, but assumed he was repping JSG

have you got the data to show the centre position in the WVS correlates with rich & White in Brazil?

If you were having a good faith discussion, you’d have apologised to me for calling me a Tory and engaged with the substance of the problems in your article. But it looks like you were just stirring, which is a bad look for a reporter who might want his sources to trust him.

A blatantly inaccurate report which also erased the fact that our march was led by women. And for raising this inaccuracy with someone who gets paid to tell the truth about stuff, I get ridicule and told I’m a Tory. That’s pretty shameful.

Is this a big joke to you? I spent years in organisations on your paper’s list of groups spied upon. I have young kids. On Saturday, I stood in front of fascists who were itching for a fight. And I got home and read a blatantly inaccurate report in the paper I normally read.

A bizarre allegation.* But how “radical” I am isn’t the issue. You must know people who confront fascists physically take serious risks. Saying that being anonymous for that reason means you forfeit the right to expect reporters to be accurate is nuts. *

I’m well aware journalists are at risk (I tweet about it often, see e.g on threats against a Guardian journalist, or ). But your name is out there, in your byline. All I’m asking is that you report accurately, which is your job.

Also the bit about “black-clad protestors” is a bit of a cliché. Look at how colourful the march was:

Your Guardian article included a tweet from but didn’t mention them or . Made it look like the only protest was the SWP/Momentum one. I’m sorry but that feels a bit lazy to me.

Thread - BBC Panorama just examined the chemical attacks that have taken place in Syria. At Bellingcat, we've been documenting these attacks for years, here's some of our work

I agree, but this framing by the BBC, though problematic, does help refute the “but he was winning anyway why would he use them” shtik his apologists always trot out. The point is he used them to win battles (even if ultimately he can’t win the war).

Panorama 🌐 Oct 14
When Abdul woke up on the 4th April 2017, he never thought that it would be the last time he would see his wife and children. Panorama's analysis of reported chemical attacks suggest 106 took place in , all in the four years since disarmament.
