I’ve been reading abt chronic illnesses (chronic fatigue, POTS, Ehlers Danlos, IBS, connective tissue disorders & dysautonomia) for years & I do keep seeing temp regulation issues come up. I recommend the work of on the RCCX gene theory for potential links.

Maybe I’m doing this wrong but I wish I had gotten to read Harry Potter as a child and I wish I had first read the Bible as an adult

This isn’t catastrophic thinking or an overreaction. It’s simply a clear-eyed understanding of the groundwork conservatives have been establishing for years.

If Christianity had told me that god could be a river, or a kiss, or the breeze on a summer day, or the voice inside my own chest longing to be creative -- I wouldn't have had to spend my whole life looking for god, trying to be good enough for god.

1/2. I'm beginning to think that the secret to achieving a life well lived is never to become invested in having achieved goodness as a status or result. Being good is always a process. People--especially those of us with privilege--are so easily tempted to think we have arrived

Are you familiar with Stephen Buhner’s work at all? He has some interesting things to say about the ways in which plants could be considered to be communicating to us via entheogenic compounds

idea of needing to blame a villain, or will continue in that pattern. I do believe we developed all these traits to SURVIVE at some level. They may not help us any more but they were our subconscious’ idea of helping. Thank them and let go, I try to tell myself.

😭Jamie thank you for that framing. I’ve always chafed at hearing ‘people remain fundamentalists’ bc of the implication that I’m just as reactionary now, just bc I’m liberal, as I was in my fundie days. But you’re so right, if the subconscious isn’t told it can move on from the

When your subconscious developed inside of a belief system that told you that you needed to have an “against” in order to know what you’re for, this kind of thing is sadly inevitable even on the other side of “deconstruction”. Unless you do. the. WORK. 💁🏻‍♀️
