Can we encourage those who are able to volunteer this weekend? I know they’re aiming to talk to a ton of people across the US, and that needs help! (And campaigns will generally train volunteers, so you don’t have to be nervous about knowing what to do 😊)

And then I would chuckle at it for a long time sitting at home by myself. (Sometimes I think 2/3 of my writing is just things that I think are privately hilarious that no one else may appreciate or even notice.)

Warren is on fire and Flame Warren is so freaking proud—and HOPEFUL. This is the kind of leadership we need. Someone this smart, forceful, energetic, and committed to helping the actual American people—and who won’t stand for hypocrisy and corruption along the way.

But I also called Q while I was reading it and told him that if a certain writing gig fell through, maybe I’d do a two-week solo walk along the frozen coast of Norton Sound while he was racing Iditarod. So it inspired me, too. (The writing gig did not fall through.)

My mom has mentioned, at times, that she’s glad she only found out about certain things after they were over. Which is also how I feel when ’s on the trail. I think. I’m not sure.

That’s funny, because the book left me feeling conflicted about adventure. Or at least, noticing that the adventures I most enjoy have greater safety nets than, say, solo trekking the Darien Gap. Everyone has to draw their own line.

First draft of the review had a paragraph about how that scene—when Dial realizes he’s missed his son’s out date—is one of the most viscerally horrifying passages I’ve ever read.
