I'll add: mature marketing organizations have PhD analysts developing sophisticated data models to identify best prospects. And core strengths in campaign design & analysis. Invest in your data & insights team and data mgt capabilities or you're misspending / underperforming.

Relative to Fiserv study & Jim's observations, I'd add that most banks/CUs haven't calculated (or accurately calculated) the PV of a customer adopting individual digital services in order to prioritize driving adoption (via marketing or otherwise) or improving the services.

Instead of sharing that perhaps well intentioned but ultimately anti-Arab video of Sen. McCain responding to a racist question about Obama, please uplift this better response by Colin Powell:

I understand the intent of the label so my thinking is, it depends on how they are coordinating. Tho if it’s not “integrated” it’s gonna be difficult to drive a singular digital vision and experience.

This: “There are few–if any–fintech startups who are changing the economics of financial services the way Google and Facebook changed advertising, the way Uber changed transportation, or the way AirBnB changed lodging.”

Agree, and a very different value prop between billboard and branch.

True, vast majority of ckg accts are opened in branch even when can be completed online. Others factors: fear of getting the wrong acct (and fees) and not getting their $150 bonus, if they do it unassisted online. Uncertainty is a significant abandonment driver in e-commerce.

Alex are you saying that a branch’s value equates to a billboard’s (or other out-of-home advertising) value?
