My favourite tawny frogmouth is back in the tree next to my bedroom, lulling me to sleep with its soft, deep & continuous "oom, oom, oom." Notice its weak feet that don't have curved talons - different to owls. Love their scruffy, wide-mouthed face. #wildoz #ozbirds #birding pic.twitter.com/v8Rv3VRmkD

next to your bedroom? super lucky you! I had to go birding quiet far by plane to the another island. I got Large Frogmouth (Batrachostomus auritus) in Way Kambas NP, Sumatra. pic.twitter.com/GhRRlsxO0C

I'd love to see some other species of Frogmouth. That one looks impressive! Tawnies are fairly common here in the leafy Greater Brisbane suburbs but often go unnoticed. It's their calls at night that alert me to their presence in my yard. They are such camouflage experts! 😊

Thanks! They're fairly common in the leafy suburbs and parks of the Greater Brisbane area but being such camouflage experts, usually go unnoticed. 🙂
