2/2 You might also want to play with the layout (clearly this is 80s sports poster inspired) but can you push the layout and typography to be something more interesting? How can you take that 80s sports poster theme and twist it into something new/modern/your own?

I think the player illustration is pretty good, you clearly spent some time there! That said, it's pretty clear you LiveTraced the city in the background, and to me that just sticks out like a sore thumb. I'd give the background the same love you gave the player 1/2

What you’re dealing with here is the fundamental difference between college vs pro sports design. Different demands for different audiences and different needs overall. I’m w/ the college folks that I don’t see remote working in that arena. Pro on the other hand for sure it works

2/2 In cases where I was working as the lone designer, I made several trips to see that client on-site. I don’t think it’s necessary to do that all the time, but there’s a lot you can do in an on-site that helps when I’m not physically there. But phones/Skype made things easier

1/2 I think there has to be a hybrid element to it. I’ve worked successfully for multiple teams across the country but there were a few key points: 1) in a couple cases I was an extension of the full-time staff, so I think someone being there all the time is crucial

This is a great article, and it should be noted that it's not just colleges but pro teams with the same trademark concerns. OH, and EVERYONE LOOK AT #3
