1. William Martin's "A Prophet with Honor: The Billy Graham Story" (1st ed., 1991; 2nd ed., March 2018). Martin had unprecedented access. It's hard to imagine this biography ever being surpassed.

2. Steve P. Miller's "Billy Graham and the Rise of the Republican South" (2009) is political biography at its finest. If you're interested in politics, religion, and the South, this is the book for you.

3. Grant Wacker's "America's Pastor: Billy Graham and the Shaping of a Nation" is often called a biography—though he says (literally) on page 1 that it's not one. Rather it's an illuminating study of why Graham matters for religion and American culture.
