apparently AVR compilation is a problem, but it works fine with ARM MCUs. A teensy or similar might be worth a try

makes sense as NSSet uses a hash table, not an array. -contains: is O(1) (average case)

You could use a dummy structure and align the members that you need by filling the struc with byte arrays (don’t forget packed attribute)
