This is scholarship more than advice, and I don't really have advice to give or point you to.

There is so much wisdom in this quote from Nassim Taleb.

As far as I can tell the naturalized version is that God is the optimization target of a collective personality, such that if enough people instantiate the will of God they spontaneously self-organize into an FAI.

Kabbalah is technically the orthodox Jewish theology, and this book does a decent job laying out the theory & is pretty short: amazon.com/Kabbalah-Short…

It seems straightforward that behavioral learning and propositional learning are different, with emotions as a kind of complex behavior.

a while back I read @ben_r_hoffman's post on the Sabbath and was struck by the idea of the Sabbath as an alarm (thread)
"it is permissible to break the Sabbath in an emergency situation, when lives are at stake...if you try to keep it but end up breaking it every week...(1/n)

"Move slowly and reversibly" really doesn't help dislodge me from my weird obsession with postural freedom as key to noncoercive action.

without making claims about what "all women" want, I think what's sometimes going on here is:
someone who expresses a full range of emotions in a state of security is sexier than someone who expresses a gender-typical, narrowed range of emotions in a state of these insecurity

If CEOs are 82 on average in 2048, that'sroughly the same as US life expectancy then on its trend.

I often struggle to explain that:
1. Generally, the range of things you could possibly do that are worse than nothing is larger than the range of things that are better
AND
2. Trying most things is cheap & when trying in earnest, humans are good filterers of possibility space

Broadly speaking, humans are prone to get into serious trouble when they attempt massive-scale things straight out of the gate, but they also don't try to do nearly *enough* things
