Well, as I say, ‘at or near Nationally Described Standard’. That would leave a 13.5sq m studio out of the count for sure. We architects should be acting in the public interest. I’m not against style designer flats. But this is exploitation!

I’m quoted on our work on why space standards matter. I call on our members not to engage in commercial to residential Permitted Development unless at or close to Nationally Described Space Standard. We’ve seen one studio at 13.5 sq m!
