Be aware that I'm taking into account the diversity of software ecosystems on mobile devices. My first question is valid, regardless of the intuition that increased variety is significantly harder for exploit devs to handle. Even if true per dev, malware management has improved.

How much info exists to back mobile malware not being rampant? The number of RCE CVEs indicates opportunity, outside disclosure. (Has skipping the growing pain of on-device AV led to less malware, or has most malware been legitimized by lightweight introspection app gatekeepers?)
