Vernice West, general manager at BAF Insurance, said, “We very well realise the importance of the Blood Bank service within the community and the opportunity it gives people in the outer districts to give blood … it’s a win-win situation for everyone,” she said. - Cayman compass

Did you know that if you turn your fan out rather than in, your room will stay cooler and you might be able to sleep more comfortably? You can use a temperature controller (or build one yourself) to turn fans on or off based on the temperature and save your energy—literally.

Just because it’s hot out doesn’t mean you have to stop exercising. You can get used to exercising in the heat and use common sense strategies such as switching to water sports, avoiding the sun when it’s strongest, and exercising in short bursts.

Frozen fruit can be great to snack on when you run out of Ice Pops. It's a healthier alternative to ice cream as well. Try blending the fruit with a little water for a tasty sorbet! You can also mold it into a fruit Popsicle. Plus, it's all natural.

Don't blow hot air! Make a makeshift air conditioner. If it's hot but not humid, place a shallow bowl of ice in front of a fan and enjoy the breeze. As the ice melts, then evaporates, it will cool you off.

Keep a spray bottle in the refrigerator, and when the going gets hot, give yourself a good squirt. "As the water evaporates, it cools you." Begin with the wrists to quickly cool down the blood flowing through your veins.

Beat the heat by eating better this summer. Eat more fruits and vegetables that make you less thirsty. Eat watermelon and salads with green leafy vegetables and cucumbers.

Limit outdoor activities during peak hours like 10 am to 2 pm. Stay out of direct sunlight and ensure that you are hydrated with non-diuretic fluids and also avoid very cold drinks.
