Well I made it to the highest point, but could not continue with the planned route, as there was more snow than I expected. Crampons were super effective, but I could not see the path and was trailblazing. Decided to play it safe and skip the rest. Will return to complete it!

Definitely a fair bit of snow and ice on the summits. Looks like I'll be using my lightweight crampons.

Weather is better than expected. Bit of rain and sleet here and there, but dry now. Temperature is dropping quickly. Am the only one camping. Very peaceful, nice campsite by a stream.

At Ribes de Fresar, waiting for the mountain train to arrive to take me to Nuria. Weather is holding, but could start raining at any point.

And so it begins, the shitty weather that is. A sign of what's to come. This front should hopefully pass by tomorrow morning, that's what I'm betting on. Tonight will be cold, wet and icy.

Backpack mostly packed now. Damn winter clothes take up a lot of space. Taking a small day bag too, nice that it fits pretty well onto the outside of the backpack.

That's my kit mostly sorted. Fuck me seems a bit excessive for 2 nights camping haha. Will post my full kit list later.

This route has a few escape options back to basecamp if the weather is too bad.

I'll be attempting this route: It looks like I'll have a window, from 6am to 2pm, when the weather is less shiiite, to get to the summit.

Base camp is at 2100m, summit at 3000m. I only have a 3 season tent and sleeping bag, so it's gonna be cold. But with enough layers I should aaaight

I'll be camping in Vall de Nuria this weekend. Weather forecasts are shiiiiite. Rain, snow, -5c min +3c max, at base camp. -10c (without wind chill factor) on the summit. I'm gonna brave it. I'm taking like a million layers haha. Crampons too, but no ice axe. Will play it smart.

I believe I can find the right combination of inner sole, socks and lace tightness to accommodate my intense style of hiking without getting blisters. It's hard to find the sweet spot with mid boots, I don't have this problem with low cut trekking shoes.

Still getting blisters on my heel, but only on the one foot. (Am hopeful I can adjust the inner sole to prevent this.) Little to no pain on the toes which is a good sign. Determined to wear these boots in properly.

So for the most part I'm done. I will continue to post my hikes and wotnot, but I don't check twitter anymore. My mentality seems better because of this. Deleting the app from the phone helps a lot. Have fun twittersphere. Adiós.

I am slowly weaning myself off Twitter. Simply I don't support the hugely biased platform and echo chamber it creates. I wish I could follow people just for certain subjects, like tech and hiking, but a lot of biased political shit bleeds through.

It's definitely recording well now, but I think the uninterrupted recording does eat a bit of battery, as I had to recharge a couple times. I'm not complaining though I'm happy to be able to record again :)

Was trying out my new boots. Got two big blisters on my heel. Will try different socks next time, and lace the boots up better.
