Always dangerous to tell someone else how to do their job, but if I was PM I think I would avoid school quizzes in my cabinet meetings (esp filmed ones) and I might think it simpler just to pay for my own holidays.

Surrounding yourself with sycophants isn't a sign of strength. It's proof of insecurity

It’s worth noting that the current UK govt are deporting people who are British, who’ve lived here for decades because of minor drug infringements. And the govt doing this. Is made up of these people:

Amazing coincidence. Philip Hammond gives an interview in which he says Boris is basically a great bloke. 24 hours later Hammond is offered a peerage.

The UK’s national debt has now gone past £2 trillion (£2.17 trillion). The national debt has more than doubled since the Tories came into power in 2010. In 2007, the national debt was 37% of GDP and by 2019 it has rapidly risen to 84% of GDP.

After much deliberation, I have decided that I will not use my presence at a state ceremony to normalize Trump’s lawless conduct & subversion of the Constitution. None of this is normal, and I will not legitimize it. Consequently, I will not be attending the State of the Union.

Political leaders breaking the law - and revelling in it - is an essential precondition for the rise of fascism. These are extremely dangerous times. My column.

A man who described the energy transition as *green crap* & has been in the political wilderness for 4 years was not the right choice But we need a decision quickly, and a president with knowledge & commitment AND political & diplomatic weight

The Irish leaders’ debate is really quite shocking. The three leaders have a detailed grasp of complex welfare and tax issues, they are polite and courteous, they admit mistakes, they say sorry. They might even be largely honest. Why is all that possible in Ireland but not here?

This is a vital point. Norway has ‘freedom’ to diverge from new single market rules - except, if it does, EU blocks relevant market access, making the move pointless or counter-productive. So it doesn’t - and neither will we. Brexit means taking back control alright - for the EU

This is a disgrace. Public services should be in public hands, not making profits for shareholders.

BBC cuts programming at Radio 4. Boris Johnson’s bigger backer Rupert Murdoch moves in to launch BBC Radio 4 rival Everyone can see what’s happening. The carving up of public service organisations like the BBC and NHS to serve foreign oligarchs.

The hypocrisy of the government’s position is breathtaking The PM boasted that a string of investment deals from the UK Africa summit would promote clean energy - but my questions reveal that in fact they promote yet more fossil fuels

I for one am amazed that a known liar who lied about dying in a ditch if we didn’t Brexit and about a border in the Irish Sea and 40 hospitals and workers’ rights and everything else should have lied about this.
