Prominent Dem texts: Time to get tough. Do away with the filibuster. Add 2 justices. They stole 2 seats.

There was a time when our leaders would try to avoid a fight that would tear the country apart, shatter constitutional norms, and permanently damage the image of the Supreme Court. This apparently is not that time.

As Trump prepares to ram through a nominee to replace a pioneering justice for women’s equality, recall that two days ago the 27th woman came forward to credibly accuse him of sexual misconduct, and it barely dented the news cycle.

Reminder: 15 of the last 19 Supreme Court justices were appointed by Republicans. McConnell and Trump are going for #16 of 20. The court is not an apolitical objective legal body - it's becoming a farcical partisan arm of the GOP.

“I want you to use my words against me. If there’s a Republican president in 2016 and a vacancy occurs in the last year of the first term, you can say Lindsey Graham said let’s let the next president, whoever it might be, make that nomination." -- Lindsey Graham

Reporters please subject Mitch McConnell with an honest and unmerciful and unrelenting barrage that will bury him with his own words and actions. This is not a close call.

Americans abhor a callous, mean, ghoulish, anti-democracy hypocrite, , so I think you misplayed your hand.

Arguing before Justice Ginsburg meant you were arguing before an historic figure, a legend sitting on the bench before you, and there was no better feeling as a lawyer than to persuade her to vote your way because she personified the rule of law, equality and justice.

And… he already has. Shocked. Shocked! to find not the slightest scintilla of principle, consistency, or decency; no moral or philosophical ground for the reversal. Nothing more evolved than law of the jungle. Power for power’s sake. Heads I win, tails you lose. 😡

No two people have done more to harm our democracy than Bill Barr and Mitch McConnell and we have an opportunity to fire both of them in November. Let’s not mess this up.

RBG fought her entire life for what was right, often against great odds & with the entire establishment arrayed against her. She fought and she won. The best way to honor her memory is to carry forward that legacy. Be inspired by her. Work for the ideals & values she fought for.
