I’m still being intentional about learning (and improving) at listening twice as much as I speak, especially when I think I know what they’re going to say. :/ One tip that’s working for me: asking myself to count to 3 before replying or adding to convo. It's not long but helps.

After all these years, if I had to structure teams around a single principle it would be: organize them around the people who care the most [about whatever goal/problem] caring > skills, experience caring == pace, grit, empathy...the rest you can learn on the job

About 4 months ago, I started going to therapy for the first time in my adult life. I made the decision to go because I had some issues in my personal life that I needed to fix. What I didn't anticipate is that it would also make me a much better CEO too

2/2 The math to justify a leader making 20x is easily plausible. But 200x? Or 1,424x for the CEO of Disney? I’m a fan of paying for value. Capitalism beats anything else I’ve learned about when it comes to pay-for-performance or pay-for-value. But when is the ratio just silly?

Interesting. Thinking about my 100% commission Sales days, it was (in some firms) an uncapped commission limit, so there may be ways to think about pay-for-performance for other roles. To my friend Jeanette’s point, it seems strange to assign a crazy pay ratio to C-Suite. 1/2

Not popular, but common sense. And a combination of qualitative and quantitative performance and culture/empathy KPIs to evaluate bonuses. That 248x can be obfuscated with lower salary and golden bonuses.

The Inverted Pyramid from Journalism serves well, if utilized. Don’t bury the lead. Tell them what you’re going to tell them. Tell them. Tell them what you told them. Ask for a specific Call To Action. This can/should be conscise, relevant, and timely.

Remote work management: things I continue to learn... Invest in productivity. Invest in tech and processes which reduce or eliminate waiting on approvals. A highly capable remote worker may be asynchronous, but waiting kills mojo and productivity.

Exhibit A of why the faith ‘celebrity’ culture is seeing so many deconstruct the trappings of the institutional local church to find authentic, relational community with Jesus at the table. No, that’s not a Jesus-juke. Yes, it’s a silly meme; just don’t miss the meta theme.

I know my Magic Mouse for my Mac has an option for me to set that functionality for all apps. Perhaps look at your mouse settings instead of the Firefox preferences? I’m not in front of my laptop right now so I can’t test this.
