These important Ghostbusters insights come courtesy of this article on the Japanese VHS subtitle translation, which was evidently the highlight of my weekend reading

Also I’ve never noticed that the 🚫 “no” slash symbol in the Ghostbusters logo is backwards!

TIL that “toast” (as in “you’re toast!”) originated with Ghostbusters, and has a great OED etymology entry. 👻

Yes, 's upcoming promises to be a cool little gaming device. But that's *not* why so many are excited. It's because Playdate is part of a broader, 20-year story of a community who still believe in the creative power of tech with a soul.

Swallowing some pride while posting this. Vulcan Video is struggling right now to keep the doors open, and needs your help. Any little bit counts as we move forward and plan how to tackle the future. If you love cinema, this is something worth saving:

Reminds me of a much more subtle “Baroque Hoedown”, (aka Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade theme)! Also this led down a weird rabbit hole:

Such a perfect ending! (and maybe I’m reading too much into it and need to rewatch, but more of a ghost story than I realized?)

From their website: “DUE TO RECENT FLOODING, WE ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED.” I mean, it *is* a cave and all! (seriously, tho, I hope their business is OK…also the owners’ last name is actually Cave!)

I forgot about this one, where our (then) 3yo discovered the dictation button. Mostly autocorrect gibberish (strangely repeating!) but the last four lines are intriguing and almost poetic

I spent 2+ years on the Tolkien/LoTR-based ElendorMUSH — at the time it was anecdotally one of the biggest online “games” (on a busy night 100+ people might be on at the same time! look out!) I learned much about coding and building things for other people
