There’s a searchable database of 200k+ Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints! If you need me, I’ll be spending the next few hours just looking at these that match the word “ghost”

The Google Books method of auto-replacing thumbs with some cloned visual texture continues to be weird & ridiculous.

Morning! In 2017, asked me to create their illustration voice, library, and system. A year + a half after launch, I've written a case study about my process, diving deep into studying references from outside tech and building out this system! 🎨👩🏽‍🎨

I haven’t actually watched it yet, but this deep cut appears to be the “Slacker” + “Garlic is as Good as 10 Mothers” + Christopher Guest mashup I didn’t know I wanted.

In 1996 a mockumentary was made here in Austin spoofing the Spamarama festival. Appearances by Kinky Friedman, the Uranium Savages, Turk Pipkin, and, uh, Molly Ivins!?

Sadly I’m sure this would get mired in years of copyright handwringing about whether such playlists are derivative works — eg the lawsuits re: those Mormon-friendly ClearPlay DVD players that autocensored movies via built-in edit lists, or even Game Genie .

Lots to consider with ‘Migrant Mother’: representation, photo manipulation, the (likely unintentional?) obscuring of racial identity, consent and compensation. It’s great seeing the iconic photo alongside her other less familiar but captivating shots of the same family.

It's Charles Schulz's birthday, and at the risk of turning my Twitter into nothing but Peanuts' strips, I want to touch briefly on how extraordinary it was at the time for the main character to talk so openly about depression.

I’ll never understand why the iPad doesn’t allow you to use iOS Weather or Calculator, but maybe it came down to rushed designs and low impetus to get it out the door:

hey, fellow ux folks and designers and game designers and design researchers, y'all lean in real close for one second: *whispers* we especially have to pay attention to concerns of power/control bc design is a very common vehicle for the exploitation of precisely those things

FWIW, you might could use the related Chrome Workspaces tool, which saves overrides to local files that you can edit in your preferred editor (Sublime). Haven’t tried this in a while, though!

Sorry I’m late to this, but: what about the Chrome DevTools Local Overrides feature (replaced the Map to Filesystem tool, sorta)?
