Grad students are mature adults who should have a right to vote on the future of their profession. But as an bylaws amendment vote, the odds are stacked against them. Look for your ballot, and VOTE YES to let grad students vote!!

It’s not really being cagey to resist giving a minimum number. We have short listed and hired junior people with sub 10 / 15 numbers. Fit is very important. CVs can be padded from prolific team sci labs. Pubs can be fewer if innovation, rigor & intellectual leadership is high.

In honor of Rep. Elijah Cummings, here is a clip from his speech at SRCD last year where he urged researchers to make their work accessible and translatable. He was so deeply invested in the wellbeing of children. Let us continue his work. Rest in power Congressman 💔

Thanks for clarifying the state of the evidence. Agree that data is needed. However, to be clear, with no evidence of predictive value the burden of proof must be for why to retain it. Rather than why not to drop it.

Exactly who has ever made a credible argument that dropping GRE would decrease diversity? Nobody told me it was backwards day. Haven’t the folks shown good data supporting the opposite argument?
