Worse in a way. Trump doesn't really seem to be fully aware of how his wishes conflict with the oath. Whereas plenty of GOP senators are actually aware of what they're doing.

"virtually" does a lot of work in "virtually unprecedented suit to compel the congressional testimony of a former close presidential adviser".

The timeline for Nixon was a good bit tighter however - is there anything that can be read into that?

I really wish it were just a deepfake. I mean, I don't think it's really possible to be any more blatant than this.

Yea. I find it one of Mueller's harder to defend decisions.

I'm honestly baffled by the amount of "grave strategic error" takes, given that we have only limited amount of information of what the concessions are, and given the Trumka endorsment.

(as restricted as it seems to be) isn't the worst argument to have to convince suburban women to further move away from the GOP.

It may provide a bit of cover for the Dems in swing-y to moderately R districts. Obviously not going to convince Trump base, but the the suburban GOP voter that is concerned with Trump, but also wants government to do something? Plus maternity leave

The costs for lifetime extensions aren't necessarily all that low, are they? I'm not in favor of shutting them down while operating without significant further investments, but from *vague* memory, that's not always the case?

Still less bad than "random caller" "interviews" in my opinion. I don't think I've ever seen, well heard, that actually advance discourse.

It's confusing, indeed. Some way of angling for a grant of immunity for testifying in front of congress?

I doubt voting against impeachment but asking sensible questions would have hurt him a few years down the line (and protected him a bit if Trump got more unpopular). But I think group behaviour largely explains that. I do agree that future elections are the right explanation.

I'm not sure that really explains him asking dumb/misleading questions for quite a while during the hearings, however. Only at the end he switched to asking more generic stuff (like asking about ideas to counter "cyber" info ops).
