Today, I am pleased to announce a bold and ambitious commitment:
I change my diet to go 100% healthy food by 2050, and 45% healthy food by 2030 relative to my diet from 15 years ago when I was a college freshman.

Saying you'll win on "turnout" and screaming that they "system is rigged!" don't mix well at all.
Nothing depresses turnout like the perception that voting dosen't work, showing up won't matter it's all rigged anyway. (why does Trump say this so much)
So, pick a rallying cry.

Are you saying it’s *never* possible to conclude, from evidence, that a faction is not operating in good faith while “acting like the party of good government”? If not never, what would a group have to do that today’s GOP hasn’t?

I *do* think the left needs to take up small-d democracy as a central, rallying principle... but this isn't the way to do it.

Yeah. I sorta get where this comes from: it really *feels* like it's a core principle of small-d democracy, esp at the scale of regular life--like, it's what I want to be true in meetings at my workplace

Can you really claim that it's wrong to describe today's GOP as behaving like "all the world's a power struggle"?

Compromise and pragmatism are great, but surely if you want them to accomplish anything, you'd want the people at the table to be there in good faith, in the interest of politics and not anti-political power struggle.

This doesn't seem like a fair critique. @drvox isn't arguing that his positions on the actual questions of climate change are the only legit ones. He's arguing that *one specific set* of positions--those of the current GOP--should be treated with intense skepticism.

Are you effing kidding me!? You could have told this to literally anyone who's worked at a software agency--I guess except some boss at Shadow?--and they could have told you that this was going to be a disaster.
Anyway, yeah good piece by @zeynep theatlantic.com/technology/arc…

We created a unique algorithm called "cookoutworthiness" to see which candidate is the best choice for black voters.
And if you think that's silly, remember, white voters often vote for who they'd "like to have a beer with." trib.al/8WmrioS pic.twitter.com/daOXTfxH8n

So Pete is just saying fuck it results be damned and giving his victory speech and Biden surrogates are impugning the legitimacy of the results. If we’re supposed to be picking someone who’s a contrast to Trump, it’s not these two.

I get the argument. But I also have zero doubt that if Sanders and Warren’s poll numbers were swapped, @NathanJRobinson would have come up with an equally long thread about how important it is for Sanders supporters not to be swayed by an argument like this.

This is a delightfully quaint scandal, and I think it's adorable and, dare I say it, almost refreshing in its lack of actual stakes.

This is throat clearing “to be sure” stuff as obviously you know. One way to deal with being truly disastrously wrong about two of the most important questions in public life in the last two decades is to approach one’s task with considerably more humility.
