Naw shucks Rory. 😘 But I’m far too young to have been your supervisor 😉😂 👵🏼

And shout out to . Even when she was working 200 miles away, I still felt like she had my back! Fond memories of my full days of supervision up in Glasgow: dinner with the family, B&B chez Hetherington, homemade hummus & tomato sandwiches for train back to Liverpool 😍

So important! And having a PhD doesn’t train you to do this. There needs to be some self reflection amongst PhD supervisors. If you don’t have the ability or time to support students properly, get training, get someone who can as joint supervisor, or don’t supervise!

Also to consider what measures are important & appropriate or make all optional. Good PPI could have huge impact here. could have got a smaller number of good measures on a willing participant, rather than scaring an anxious & recently bereaved woman into avoiding clinical care.

The better - and more ethical - thing to do would be to write a patient friendly, easy to understand, information sheet that made it very clear what was part of a study (and voluntary) and what was part of her clinic visit....

My 92yo gma was so distressed to be invited into a study involving an MRI (she has severe claustrophobia), *90ml* blood sample (she hasanaemia) & assessments every 4mnths for 10yrs! I complained as letter conflated clinical care &study. She had nearly cancelled clinic completely.

paper no.2 is out! 🎉 We found that diet quality varied across ethnic groups & that higher socioeconomic position was not associated with higher diet quality in all groups. Shout out to my co-authors & Mary Nicolaou

I’d be more convinced if you could get in them and use them as nap pods 😁 I think the buses have started using those stops now.
