We've been working with to create activity packs to teach children about dementia. Read how one Champion has raised awareness and inspired fantastic fundraising efforts by using the packs in sessions!

After her dad passed away from dementia, Chris knew she wanted to raise money to 'give this disease the kicking it deserves!' Ahead of her 60th birthday she's trying 60 ways to fundraise - from Memory Walks to a tai chi class - and has raised £3,000 so far! 💙

‘I'm still that same person The one who made you smile The one who shares your memories So talk to me a while Let's talk about the old days The fun we've had for years And smile at each other Please wipe away your tears’ 💙

Look for activities which provide stimulation but avoid too many challenges or choices. People with dementia can find it difficult to process several options.4/5

A rummage box of old objects of interest to the person may help. Actually handling articles may trigger memories more effectively than looking at pictures of them.3/5

Perhaps looking at and talking about old family photos or books with pictures from the past and reminiscing about the past can be a good way of engaging someone with dementia in conversation.

Hi Andy, people with dementia usually find it easier to remember events which happened when they were much younger rather than those in the recent past. Finding a way to trigger these far-off memories may help the person to become more engaged 1/5

We love this video so much that we just had to share it again. Patricia’s husband is living with Alzheimer’s disease and one of the only things that bring him comfort is his cat, Mooshu. The former veterinarian and his cat share a bond and Mooshu is always right beside him. 💙
