Unfortunately it WILL be forgotten as soon as current government gets a chance to privatise more NHS and make it "efficient" by reducing services & increasing shareholder returns. But I agree that decent Brits won't forget the sacrifices.

Equally, try explaining how to use an iPad to an older person over the phone... "Try swiping up. Ok, maybe down? Maybe it's a two finger swipe? Or three? Ok tap the middle of the screen instead. Maybe some options will come up. Can you see 3 dots anywhere?"

This is definitely a thing but I suspect it's similar to reading the same info in a foreign language where you're not entirely fluent. The additional effort embeds learning. But if (eg dyslexic) reading is already hard does it simply demotivate? Maybe more research req'd...
