Latest and greatest from thermal coal markets below. Note the comp for most Galilee grades is the yellow line and making new lows. This is not the good place.

I regret to say the outlook is not great in this area. But here's the thing: activists spent years and years fighting Tasmanian forestry and ultimately it was the market that ended that sector. Equanimity and patience might work better than convoys in regional QLD too.

China's government isn't dumb. It wants to stabilize its current account, cleaner air, and to back local companies to the hilt. It also seems to be looking for the leverage over US allies however it can - rare earths this week, coal imports the next.

Whoever doesn't plan for transition will find themselves in real strife when the pain hits this sector and those who promised a lot deliver little. This is going to be *bad* for regional QLD but all the worse for the lack of preparation.

A few days of calls and I'm pretty convinced whatever happens to coal it won't be because of the efforts of politicians in Australia. This is a lot like the decline of forestry in Tasmania - out of our hands.

You know what, I'm starting to get the impression that Ren's media appearances in the West are a little bit different to his domestic ones.

Deutsche Bank investigators flagged suspicious transactions that Trump entities engaged in *while he was president.* These were documented in actual, existing "suspicious activity reports." This here looks like the guts of the NYT's new investigation:

I am increasingly thinking the solution for Adani is the "Mr Creosote have a mint". Approve it, if market hasn't crashed already let them do it.
