It's the first vote of a primary marathon That included talk of breaking up Amazon So it sounds like a joke That Iowa's app broke Maybe they should turn it off and back on

I'm pretty sure this is why roads with many bicyclists show as having bad traffic when they actually don't

It's extremely difficult to know what users will actually like & pay for until you put it out there for real. Product market fit is more of an iterative learning process between you and your customers. For much more on this you might like The Lean Startup by Eric Ries.

There are (also) legit reasons to use technical debt. Ex: you don't know if the product is what people want. In that case, cut corners, get it out there, pay back the debt only if people like it.

Success and quantity of work are less correlated than you might think. Decision quality matters more. Distinguish between work that improves a decision vs work that executes on a decision.

I feel there may be some analog of this in physics but can't put my finger on it yet. Mechanical advantage? Power factor?

Related, I’ve always liked the idea that if driving takes x minutes and biking takes 2x minutes, by choosing to bike, you spend x (additional) minutes to get 2x minutes of exercise.

There once was a candidate called Sam Whose interviewers all said "Hot damn!" But his references were odd. They were just a facade! It turned out he was a con man.

My personal favorite use of this is explaining to Mom why Activity X is actually less dangerous than the drive there, and she should calm down.

But how to determine the direction of causality here? Geography easy enough but culture and institutions less clear.
