The article from about this matter is factually wrong. First its indeed just 1 single new Supercharger the document refers to & secondly to draw conclusions about the global SC Network is incorrect and made up A credible source confirmed the article is nonsense!

On a practical note, how would Tesla supercharging work for non-Tesla cars? Most public chargers have a card payment and a screen showing charging progress, cost, etc. Superchargers don't have those things; they rely on an existing payment relationship and the screen in the car.

not sure about this particular situation but: 1. public subsidized charger where no payment is tendered 2. requires adapter that is registered to a payment method (mimic Tesla vehicle ID) 3. requires vehicle capable of handshake, requires pre-registration of payment w/ Tesla
