“A rape fantasy is just such an unstable compound: fantasy requires the active direction of the imagination; in a rape fantasy, this active direction reaches for its own obliteration.”

Thought a lot about this piece by @agnescallard during a long drive today. Things like the violence of social upheavals like the French and Russian revolutions, the extreme actions of those who fight oppression, even road rage, make a lot more sense now. bostonreview.net/philosophy-rel…

The problem with the phrase "The Socratic Method" is that it suggests there is, or could be, some other method.

I would def. not say aim, but something like necc. condition. A very important distinction! You are right it is merely instrumental.

One. Bergen is not very exciting. Fjords are WAY better. I liked Alesund more than Bergen.
This was my favorite thing in Oslo, accessed by suburban rail, hours are not totally 'normal' so check in advance: atlasobscura.com/places/emanuel…

I agree, but that doesn't change the fact that that--esp. your talking about brave spaces-- makes your classroom a safe space. My point is that the phrase doesn't refer to what it should refer to.

yes--this is what makes me think that, if we could get it to work properly, the idea of a "safe space" might be one of the most important political ideas there is...

The politeness rule--that if you can't say something positive, don't say anything at all--is close to reversed in intellectual contexts: if you don't have an objection, stay silent.
So 'mixed' contexts (e.g. Twitter) create problems.
