A podcast where software developers invite professionals not in tech to rant for 60 minutes about the shit software they're forced to use at their job.

I think what's most surprising is the entitlement of open source consumers. Oddly, the angriest detractors seem to feel the same way about us – that maintainers who seek to change the status quo are acting entitled. But folks who contribute nothing don't get a seat at the table.

Sweet! I was thinking of using the tree for tweet media in a twitter clone, but wasn't sure re merging. I want every commit's tree to be independent, but when merging they would end up as 1 directory with files from many tweets? Maybe custom merge driver?

ooh INTERESTING. Yes I think there's a whole untapped field of using git commits and trees in unexpected ways. The one I keep dreaming about is a messaging app, where the tree is used to hold message attachments.

Curious what happens when you fire up a web browser for the first time? Me too. I often do this for to make sure things are staying neat and tidy. Today I would like to do it for a few other web browsers. First, let's take a look at Opera.

Dogfooding Keykapp unearths some unexpected priorities. Implement sexp structure editing for org-mode style note-taking before I can even move the cursor around? Definitely! Hemingway mode is great, and I need a tree for planning asap.

Antonyms with matching character length are so cool. Who called it input/output and not input/exput?

Stallman wants the web to be more like a package manager - letting individuals choose what versions of a website (or a website’s dependencies!) they run. Some good alignment with here to empower people to cache/replace/control where they load JS deps from

If you or your company rely on curl, consider a support contract. While I enjoy spending my spare time on this, actually getting food on the table is a cool concept!

What happens when governments push for restrictions on encryption in the name of surveillance & censorship? We end up with millions of devices with no protection from malicious actors at all.

Oh wow, if they figure out how to block nocebo it will help so many people! I wonder if you can just _say_ you found out how to do it, tell people they are suffering from nocebo, then administer them a nocebo-blocking placebo instead.

If you squint just right, a huffman tree keyboard updating weights from history on every keypress is in fact "predictive." Compression is at the heart of learning. It is naive though. You get the global minimum number of keystrokes to reach an arbitrary key from the root.
