In my latest for , I explored why it’s so damn hard for Black folks to get enough rest.

At this point I’m too outspoken to be on staff anywhere. πŸ˜‚ I’d get fed up and quit with zero qualms. It’s best I remain freelance. Point being tho I’ve made *the choice* to be freelance. Most Black food writers have that choice made for them bc getting a staff gig is...LOL. πŸ™ƒ

Restaurant is definitely closed and I’m definitely still up in this bitch. But that’s what happens when you allow a reservation a half hour before closing. πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

I do believe I’ve stumbled upon some of the best chicken wings in Madrid. Hm. πŸ€”

I have so much to say. I’m going to continue to process and share my full thoughts later. Maybe I’ll write something at length, too.

Them being the same people who six years ago subjected me to so much racism when I lived in Madrid and still look at me funny as I walk around. But were engrossed in such beautiful art featuring beautiful Black people who look like me.

I have so many feelings about this movie. IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK is one of my favorite books ever so seeing a film based on a book that shifted me + my writing was...wow. But I will say it wasn’t lost on me watching the film in a theater filled with (white) Spaniards.

I once considered writing a dining while Black + woman piece but I didn’t have the emotional bandwidth. Don’t know if I ever will. But yes, Black women are treated very differently in restaurants folk think we shouldn’t be eating at. Especially if we’re dining solo.

I’ve had eerily similar experiences dining while Black + woman in restaurants all over the world as writes about in this piece. Definitely a must read.

I’m *finally* going to see β€œIf Beale Street Could Talk” this evening. In Madrid. Most movies in Spain are dubbed over but I know the theaters to go to that play movies in their original language. This is incredibly special. I am beyond excited. πŸ₯³

At this point, there is a *very* short list of folks I’d pay for their services. Nine times out of ten, I’m gonna resort to trusting my own inner-guidance. I don’t think depending on a tarot reader, astrologer, energy healer, etc. for every little whim is healthy anyway.

Per that Audr*y Kitch*ng stuff, it’s scary you know. But there’s so many others like her. There are folk willingly buying cleanses, distance healing and the like from weirdo spiritual scammers online.
