I just finished this. Astonishing. And if you want to see how the US legal system balances crime and the stability of the republic, well, let’s just say this is very informative.

1/ Countless pictures this year. A few that caught me symbolically— Lines of humans -fleeing terror from Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS shooting -fleeing for a better life in the US as children meet with terror being separated from parents

So here's something. Users are testing the limits of Tumblr's new algorithm that flags adult content (aka "censorbot"). This one found that a man's chest was flagged, but a man's chest next a 50% scale owl went unnoticed. Things seem to be going great

Hardware locked until regulatory approval. Seems like we should be allowed to see the measurements, even with disclaimer. I mean, it’s OK to sell homeopathy in drugstores, but not to show me heart data that could *actually* save my life? Harrumph.

Disappointed Apple Watch 4 doesn’t support ECG in Canada. Something the Genius didn’t mention when I explained it was the main reason for buying one. It frustrates me that I can’t use my device to collect data on my body on my terms. Feels very Nanny State.

The most thought-provoking line I heard this year was “it isn’t clear if free-market liberal democracy can survive a digital age.”
