If, as the Trump administration rightly argues, we are entering an era of greater competition with China and Russia, why does cede the playing field to Xi and Putin by refusing to show up for the APEC and ASEAN Summit meetings this week? Showing up is 80% of life

There are plenty of reasons why this is wrong -- but let's start with this: There is a federal law that allows overseas voters -- SUCH AS OUR TROOPS -- to submit their ballots after election day. So Trump's Veterans Day message to our troops? YOUR VOTE SHOULD NOT COUNT!

Hats off to Pete Davidson and SNL for doing the right thing and especially to Dan Crenshaw for his class, decency, service and sacrifice. Thanks for putting our better angels first this Veterans Day.

Thanks Dan. All I can add is that those of us in positions of responsibility at the time tried hard to stop the excesses and the war itself. We acted in good faith but failed. And we have to live with that failure. Which is no reason to perpetuate it.

Patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism. Nationalism is a betrayal of patriotism. By putting our own interests first, with no regard for others, we erase the very thing that a nation holds dearest, and the thing that keeps it alive: its moral values.

Thx POTUS 4 ur uplifting tweet. As thousands evacuate their homes & suffer tragic loss of property & life,we rely on ur empathy & legendary knowledge of forest management. Demeaning the Forest Service now shows impeccable timing & grace. U soothe the nation with ur words. BeBest!

Imagine if Jews fleeing the Nazis across forests and mountains into Spain, or East Germans tunneling under the Berlin Wall, had been told to "present yourself at an official port of entry."

False. More than 70% of costs of peacekeeping are borne by others. More than 99% of troops/police are sent by others - to some of world’s most dangerous places, incl to many places the US has embassies & deep interests in stabilization (eg Lebanon, Mali etc)
