My teacher report writing rule was always the same: Imagine it is parent's evening and you have ten minutes per parent. Now write down what you would choose to tell them about their child in that time. Anything more than that is a waste.

Asking someone to teach a 30 minute lesson to a class of children they’ve never met before, on a topic they’ve previously not taught, is a pretty ridiculous way to assess their suitably for a teaching post

Teachers working in London are priced out of the housing market. In 2016, average salaries of £42,359 meant that 13 per cent could afford a home. No pay rise since 2010 means today in 2018, this figure has dropped to 7%. You can’t teach in London if you cannot afford to live.

Enjoy Day 4 everyone. No honestly... Enjoy it... Make the most of what will probably be the last 40 minutes of silence you get this academic year.

It's so good seeing the children fill up their magpie books with pages of vocabulary taken from books I've read to them, personal reading and our shared writing sessions!

Here are some of the pieces of artwork my class have produced, inspired by by and to accompany their poems. (Some are still works in progress.) Once again, it’s great to see the children taking such pride in their artwork.

I have thought this for years. If every person who works in a school (or any public service), only worked their contracted hours, how long would it take for everyone else to realise how much the public sector relies on good will.
