Rereading Embedded Formative Assessment by and these are possibly the most important two paragraphs in the book. 1/2 1. "Feedback should cause thinking."

This podcast with Professor Maggie Snowling on dyslexia is superb. Such a clear and expert explanation of a complex issue. Every teacher should put aside 20 minutes of their time to give it a listen. [Well done too!]

A key point to remember on every A-level results day: Only 40% of pupils take any A-levels. The majority are doing BTECs and other vocational qualifications. Their achievements should be celebrated too.

Two years ago my son was two marks off a grade C in English Lit GCSE. This meant he didn’t meet the entry requirements for sixth form. His head teacher took a chance and let him come back to sixth form. He’s just got an A in English Literature. Thanks Mr B. X

I'm sure there ought to be a system by which primary teachers can hear the results of all their former pupils. I want to know how my lovely class of 2012 did...

I often recommend that parents who are unconfident with their own reading for whatever reason watch TV with their children using the subtitles, which exposes everyone in the family to written language in context. Unfortunately, this is often more miss than hit on Youtube etc.

This afternoon a care experienced child, who has lived in 7 different homes & excluded from 2 schools said this: "Alot of the time I'm scared. But I find it hard to trust people so I can't tell them that." Every child I grew up with felt exactly the same. Scared not naughty.
