There is so much further to go for the NHS to achieve the diversity it should across all leadership structures. And while we double down on these efforts, generational representation should be seen as another important aspect of diversity

Agree. For some people knowing they are being assessed will badly affect their performance. Cannot understand why it would be an issue to ask a trainee *after* an event whether they would like feedback +/- formal assessment

However... If you drill down into stats by profession and gender, the rate is higher for female nurses

On t’train home from . Going to need a good few days to assimilate what I’ve seen, heard, learnt & been inspired by. A few things that spring to mind...be kind, show appreciation to others, trust your gut, be inquisitive, never curtail your passion...the future IS ok!!

Couldn’t agree more. No amount of well-being, yoga, & positivity balances out the short staffed rotas, the lack of admin time, the routinely being paid incorrectly, the issues around parking/rest/food availability, the hassles that come w changing job every 6/12 for a decade.

Would love to say I take every opportunity Often I do - but the discussion needs to be given time, space and consideration- not just as an offhand comment. Not something that is always possible if you have a four hour wait and under pressure to keep department functioning

If 15-25yo are the highest users of ED, isn’t it time services, health organisations and policies invested in paediatric ED rather then it continuing to be the overlooked sidekick of adult ED?

Sadly, we are not there yet. It still needs to be actively planned by conference committees - and if public tweets congratulating conferences on their gender balance inspires others to aim for the same then that is EXACTLY what should be done

It's patronising to suggest that the amazing women they chose to speak were primarily chosen because they were women. They were chosen because of their skill, experience, talent at engaging an audience. These qualities are not linked to gender.

It's not about being patronising. There are an equal number of phenomenal male / female speakers on ANY given topic. So why wouldn't you make sure this fact is reflected by the speakers you choose for a conference?
