Here is a chart which shows annual hardware sell through for the PlayStation 4. As you can see, 2017 is currently the peak year for PlayStation 4 sales. This is due to continued sell through of PS4 at lower price points and additional sales of PS4 Pro.

Are there outcasts for 2018? Wouldn't be surprised about a slight decline due to stronger competition (Switch and XBX) and a market saturation

I can't find your old graphic, but PS4 is selling like PS2 numbers, right?

Cumulatively circa 75m units? Pretty impressive stuff, and little wonder PlayStation is the darling for Sony right now

This makes me wonder why Sony fans are so defensive when PS4 is doing so well.

In 2017 with XBO X and Switch debut+Mario+Zelda+MK PS4 saw its best year ever. In addition to the multis, PS4 has many potentially big sellers exclusives announced for 2018 and it also may have a price cut. Which isn't the case of Xbox or NSW so PS4 is likely to dominate again.

Yeah can happen. That's why I'm asking. But wouldn't go ahead and say that M$ or Ninty don't have big games coming. Still time to announce them (especially Nintendo with a few directs here and there)

Yup, Ninty may have a big AC or a Smash DX which would sell great, plus Galaxy 1+2 DX). Other than that, if no big Pokemon is released I think they wouldn't have big selling IPs for 2018. Other than another Forza, I think MS only would have to compete Halo 6 with big sellers.

They may do a great job, they will always have multis and many not that big, but good selling exclusives. But as of now unlike Sony they didn't announce them so it would be speculation.

Yeah, M$ is not in a good position in terms of exclusive software. They redeemed themselves after that DRM-Sports-TV mess but those exclusives are just a big plus for Sony

Do you know of publicly available data showing what %/num of sales in 2017 were from PS4 Pro? I can only recall an offhand comment from several months ago suggesting about 20% were Pro. (Ofc assuming those graphs are cumulative)

Do you think PS4 will continue to sell at this rate or similar during the next, let's say, 2 years?

The resparkwd interest for gaming due to the Nintendo Switch release might have had an influence on these numbers aswell Because lets be honest, why stop after a switch when the ps4 is so cheap
