Israel and certain Arab regimes are coming together out of a common interest and fear of a common enemy but that enemy isn't Iran, it is the prospect of democracy and equal rights.

In the 1950s the federal government was using this specter to purge the civil service and target political opponents and instill a climate of fear. Today, the federal government is headed by a white supremacist. You get everything ass-backwards.

America claims to be an exceptional democracy and yet our citizens often wait hours and hours in line to perform the most elementary function of the democratic system; the vote. This is a national embarrassment and our leaders should be ashamed.

Had a parent teacher conference yesterday. It really can not be said enough how great and important a challenge our teachers are meeting with their efforts to educate our children through virtual instruction. All the respect.

The Israeli military beat a child to death. Autopsy showed strangulation & bruises on body. The Israeli military claims he "tripped" and hit his head. The ability to murder and lie about it persists only if we allow it to. We Americans finance this horror with billions a year.

This thread includes a useful list of 100 steps the Trump admin took to very openly shift Israel-Palestine issue to an Apartheid frame. Even if a Biden admin tried to reverse 10% of these, which it wouldn't even be inclined to spend the political capital to do, the die is cast.

Great list reminding everyone the degree to which - from Day 1 through today - Trump has systematically normalized & implemented Greater Israel agenda. Truly the best friend ever in the White House of illiberals, in Israel & across the globe.

Aside from being morally reprehensible to sell more weapons to regimes implicated in gross human rights abuses, this report is just "plane" silly. You can't duct tape these bombs to fighter jets and Israel doesn't have the bomber planes to deliver them.

The elderly Palestinian man in the video is one of many faces of the Palestinian victims of settler violence that takes place on a regular basis and it is fully enabled by Israeli policy we American tax payers subsidize to the tune of billions of dollars a year. It must stop.

The point of all of this is to say that Israeli settler violence is eminently preventable. The Israeli government has the tools to prevent it. But instead, it actively facilitates it, allowing violent settlers to be the tip of the spear against Palestinians on a constant basis.

Knowing this, Israeli settlers have free reign in these spaces. The Israeli military is required to protect them from Palestinians even as the settlers attack them.

A key reason for the geographic vulnerability of certain Palestinian locales is the jurisdictional breakdown of the Oslo Accords. In some areas, there is Palestinian security, in others, indeed most, there is not. In these spaces, the Israeli military is in charge.

While the data tells us when to expect elevated threats. It also makes clear where the threats are emanating from. We know which settlements are the most violent and which Palestinian villages are most vulnerable.

The climate was so ripe for an attack based on what we knew from the data that I had tweeted this in the 48 hours prior to the Duma attack.

For example, on July 31, 2015 Israeli settler terrorists carried out one of the worst attacks against a Palestinian family by firebombing a home in the village of Duma, killing two young parents, their infant and maiming a third child.
