Cool. He seems inspired by Ira Glass and TAL - stylistically he also stays quiet, lets people tell their stories. wonder what he thinks if an alien 10000 light years away, like in 三体, could listen to both what it would conclude about the Us and China?

Its actually very reminiscent of official propaganda, but less fussy language and a dope soundtrack. Theres an element of truth to it, of course, but isnt there always. Id say that most foreign china watchers, however ud like to call them, get this shtick.

The place of perfect harmony he describes where everyone works together because the chinese value is the social good, capitalist and worker, party and people, muslim and han, even workers in the same company, wow, i wish that place existed as id love to live and work there.

Thanks for sharing he is a thoughtful propagandist, perhaps, but also simplistic and stuck with an elite perspective. I think he describes quite well the problems of the west, while ignoring its strengths.

I’m guessing they know that . I guess the point is rather they set up the expectation, so that when you don’t it they can paint you as actively harming the ren and have you feeing you owe them something else.

And i hope there’s some knowing laughs in team Biden about this phrase (if not we’re doomed). hoping to work together.... “in the spirit of cooperation and...win-win!” 合作共赢精神

One of the only times you’ll ever see Xinhua refer to Xi as President only, rather than CCP General Secretary, Chairman of the CCP Central Military Commission and PRC President. Like Biden, just a head of state today.

Its framing idea in terms of extending policies he’s bundled under “supply side reform” b4, sorting out inefficiencies, freeing up factors of production etc. O/c he says it has to involve further opening up & China “can’t be self-sufficient in ething”. But others have diff ideas

Key framing he adds is “The fundamental need is to improve the innovation & relevance of the supply side, to solve "choke" and bottleneck problems, and to smooth the national economic cycle.” (根本要求是提升供给体系的创新力和关联性,解决各类“卡脖子”和瓶颈问题,畅通国民经济循环。)

Vice Premier Liu He (刘鹤), an authoritative person using his own name, discusses dual circulation in the People’s Daily. Can’t see much difference with previous but they are trying to make it a bit more substantive it seems.

And there we’ll end the story of Xu Lingyi, a guy writing copy for the Zhejiang Daily just 15 years ago and a very-important cadre who helped eradicate a possible future premier, all in the service of his long-standing boss. Finally, here’s our protagonist more recently. //37
