UK folks; looks like your government is wanting to force vendors outside of your country to collect VAT on orders being shipped to the UK staring 1 Jan. I had my staff investigate costs & itโ€™s over ยฃ1000/yr just to file these forms via a service. Thatโ€™s too much for a small store

to absorb or we would have to raise prices considerably. Unfortunately unless something happens to change that we will suspend accepting orders from the UK at starting January 1st. Iโ€™m sorry.๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Our government despises us small business owners. This is the worst time.

Surely that's supposed to be handled on this side of the pond? Our current UK government is the most hopeless I've experienced in my time and I've seen some real stinkers.

Pre Brexit yes. But from January our government will expect overseas vendors to collect the VAT and send it onto HMRC whilst charging them ยฃ1000 for the privilege

Nightmare. But isnโ€™t this normal on importing parcels from outside the custom area? They get held at the post office if the value is over 40โ‚ฌ and you have to pay the VAT before you get your parcel. Maybe this is an attempt to avoid that post office queues??

But that is collected in the UK or wherever it first enters EU, they now want the seller to collect UK VAT and send it to them.

They were already getting the 20%, just that now they want others to deal with all the admin of collecting it for them and to bear the cost of that admin. Tossbags...
