Pant Derwen Apiary
Dafydd speed strimming one of Apiary sites today. The girls are not happy and are battering him. Sting proof suit is doing its job but the leather gloves (not stingproof) are pants!

50:50 the ones that don't like it, really don't like it. 100's congregate around the entrance and when I get too close they pounce. Dafydd looks like he is runningπŸ˜€πŸπŸ

The run came 10 seconds later! I was laughing too much to video it πŸ˜‚

That's why I like to strim early morning or evening, block the entrances with a strip of foam rubber, saves a lot of grief and pain on both sides

Dafydd doesn't do early mornings, he's a teenager!

I scythe mine much more gentle and often don't need a suit on

Too many hives and apiaries for that method unfortunately.

My guys didn't enjoy the 2 stroke either, but whilst they were stinging the HT lead, they weren't stinging me.

Get a smaller going. Smoke them 5 minutes before you start and then periodically as you trim. Do it all the time and it keeps the girls calm.

I find that by mowing the grass with a four stroke mower and strimming with a small battery qualcast strimmer works okay for me.πŸ™‚

I use a scythe. Just as fast, no noise, less stress. Keep a sickle for the tricky bits around the hive stands and entrances.

We just trim in front of the hives with shears, I hate strimmers as much as the bees do. We strim a couple in the winter for land owners

We weed eat (weed whack, strim ) a few times a season but I go early in the morning before the bees are out. Doesn’t cause any fuss
