I tend to add in ordering more games with the stretch goals. Part for the backers and part for having extras. Stretch goals are a bit fuzzy, though, as you never really know how much things will cost, you just have estimates.

Most likely! I bet there's plenty of people that don't understand that there are unexpected costs that end up in bad places.

Fully agree with this. I put in buffers for things, but the unexpected costs definitely bite you. Actual profit will come eventually.

Thanks! I'm excited for this game AND for having a good timeline for the next 3 years. Things can change, but I can definitely say I have a lot of amazing things planned!

It's why I'm trying to transition to an accrual method of accounting, as trying to spend money in late December is A LOT harder than I anticipated.

so, if you time your KS right (or wrong, in some views), you can make a profit just by not being able to spend the money soon enough. Like, if you have a KS in September but don't print until January, you probably made a 'profit' that year.

I'm fine with some people, but others definitely irritate me and I also need quiet downtime.

yeah... that'd be great, but I tend to price mine where I'll make money after I sell the extra copies of the game. I probably do things wrong, but there's a certain cost of being a startup and developing a fanbase.

so glad it ended up working out! Sorry I wasn't paying attention to my messages a bit more, but it sounds like the conversation was exciting!

Just had a great time talking with for the podcast. Apparently there IS a world where it makes sense to talk about ice cream, saxophone, and Notorious BIG on the same podcast. Look out for Big Easy Busking by in February!

or, in this case, money. you'd think that they'd use less canned messages, but maybe those work on other people.

I think that's really what I'm getting at; I can't just spend on whatever when there could be hidden costs I'm not accounting for.
