Mario’s broad appeal and for-everyone approach still makes it king for “1:1 hardware” potential. Arguably it should have been there at launch...but I think they knew they didn’t have a strong launch until Q4 proper anyway.

Where did you get this information? I’m writing a report for school on Nintendo as an investment. Thank you

Zelda at launch guaranteed the hardcore gamer sales, Mario on Q4 guaranteed the holiday sales Good move considering production and availability was slower and eventually ramped up :)

Mario and Zelda would've cannibalized each other's sales if they came out at the same time. Purely hypothetical, but they probably both would have probably sold less if they both came out around launch, especially because there were fewer systems on the market then.

Didn’t say there was anything wrong with the plan. They lacked the inventory as well. As a fan, I’ve been asking for a big Zelda launch like that for almost decades. Very happy. I was just sayin I think you’d easily see above 10-11MM Mario sales had it been there day 1.

If Mario launched with it instead of Zelda, that may have been likely

I don't care about Mario, Zelda, Smash, Splatoon, or most other Nintendo games tbh fams. I buy Nintendo for Pokemon and other RPGs, and I'm sure there are millions out there like me pushing sales specifically for RPGs.

That's not what we are talking about. There is a market for those games. That is why Xenoblade has sold over 1 million copies. We are just talking about the system's first and third best-selling games and how their sales would have been impacted if they released together.
