I have seen this in clinical practice. One vegan young woman with anorexia in her twenties ended up in wheelchair for the end of her life. Terribly sad.

Sad but true I’ve not seen that exact scenario, but multitude of severely ill ppl who claim “but doc I couldn’t eat healthier” in reality they are living on nonnutritive carbohydrates and highly processed “foods” in the name of veganism.

You’re on to something. Couldn’t possibly be plant based products including vegetable oils and refined carbohydrates though. Gotta be something else but what could it be 🤔

Anyone following a vegan or plant-based diet should know about supplementing B12; it's common knowledge. A huge part of the general population is also deficient. Mainstream science recommends that anyone over 50 (vegan or not vegan) should take B12 supplements.

It's quite simple. Just eat things fortified with vitamin B12. It isn't difficult.
