CG Air Facility Newport aircrew rescued unconscious surfer at Devil’s Punchbowl State Park, in Oregon, earlier today. They located the subject, deployed swimmer and w/help from a local surfer, brought subject back to beach on a surfboard. Full story:

Marine Safety Unit Portland fined a man $5,000 for jumping overboard into the Columbia River, June 16, off a moving entertainment vessel. Jumping into the water from a passenger vessel is against the law.

Hi, Tom! A collision is between two moving vessels or other moving objects. An allision is between a stationary object and a moving object. Hope this helps to clear it up!

Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound investigators monitoring situation where the WA State Ferry Salish allided with the jetty at Keystone Harbor Ferry Dock at 9 a.m., today, due to propulsion failure. Passengers were aboard but no injuries were reported. Ferry transit times impacted.

Gale force winds are expected along the Washington and Oregon Coasts Winds could reach up to 60 mph. Beaches and coastal headlands will be impacted the most, advises all to avoid these areas until winds subside. Reminder double up your lines to prevent vessels going adrift.

Crew members aboard the 14-foot vessel requested towing assistance at 4 p.m. today after their vessel got stuck in mud flats. A Coast Guard crew aboard a 29-foot response boat small arrived on scene and were unable to tow vessel. Instead, helo hoisted individuals to shore.

Coast Guard Air Facility Newport helo crew rescued 2 people aboard a 14-ft recreational vessel that ran aground in Yaquina Bay, today. Helo currently transporting boaters to Air Facility in Newport. No injuries reported at this time.
