If Ambassador Cui is serious about enforcing the Vienna Convention, then we’d ask China not to release personal information about our diplomats or harass them, in clear violation of the Convention. We fulfill our treaty commitments, and we’d urge China to do the same.

A transparent attempt to distract from the real issue. When U.S. diplomats try to meet with local leaders or visit universities in China, they are regularly denied access by the Chinese government. Our action is about reciprocity and fairness, plain and simple.
