Ugh. This is HORRIBLE. Google is showing an ad for a competitor on a Google My Business listing. 😡

Paywalled content needs to be labelled in search results. Otherwise it's just bad user experience. I'm just going to keep repeating myself until Google does something about this.

Great discussion between and on the extent to which citations are a local ranking factor (spoiler alert: they're not). This myth is still prevalent in the SEO community & it's important to learn the truth. h/t

"Too many companies are still selling NAP consistency as the be-all and end-all in terms of determining rank." "a lot of the information circulating around the local search world is stuff that you and I wrote 6-8 years ago"

Ooo... Just saw some preliminary numbers on Google's Search App usage. If my math is right, it's not just big, it's literally bigger than mobile browser search, meaning I've vastly underestimated Google's market share, and the amount of total search clicks available.

Review-gating (channeling bad reviews through private forms) is against Google’s GMB guidelines and it can cause your account to be suspended & lose all its reviews. Insane.

SEO is like weight loss. Tricks & gimmicks will only get you so far and will fail you in the end. Do the right thing; eat better, exercise (great content, visitor value, site structure/speed) will give you long lasting results you will be happy with. Results may not be immediate!

one of those fields where you really get what you pay for. Hire people with no real world job experience and you will pay three times as much to get someone to fix what they did wrong or missed. Trust me I know. I do the clean-up!

"We found a strong correlation between higher spending and higher client satisfaction. In fact, clients that spent over $500/month [on SEO] were 53.3% more likely to be “extremely satisfied” compared to those that spent less than $500/month."
