Agreed. For that guaranteed money most people would play through hell and back. A different world. Pleased that so many make a great living from the game they love but perhaps sometimes a reality check might be needed? I suppose there are so many events to choose from now.

Poa is really hard to earadicate. New chemicals available do help. Personally, I think well maintained poa AFTER the seeding period is a good surface in summer. Sadly it’s extremely prone to disease like fusarium in damp, warm conditions and can often dominate bent.

Almost always good strikers. The legendary striker, Simon Hobday, was a lousy putter and was delighted when the greens were crap. He’d say, “Welcome to MY world, boys” and would usually finish well.

Hot and cold but 15 in SG putting this year. Greens like that favour 2 groups - great strikers who putt poorly because the playing field is level ( except for the greens!) and good putters who can ignore the bad bounces with putts and get on with it.

Beautiful and an interesting layout. But if you putted on greens like that every week you’d have a short career. No surprise so many top players not playing next week’s WGC. Apparently also poa and these guys just don’t need it.

Rarely seen balls roll more erratically than on the Riviera greens. Every putt looks like the balls have an off-centre wobble and as they stop they topple sideways. Even the ones that go in. Early season poa is just a shocking surface.

This is a little different than usual. Putting make percentage by golf course. Data is from 2007 to 2018 and there is a 20-round minimum to be included. In each distance category the 5 WORST make rates are in bold. Pebble & Riviera have tough greens!

They do look awful. Fast and bumpy - golf’s equivalent of Russian roulette. Have look at ‘s recent post. Riviera, Pebble and Torey Pines have the highest miss rates inside 10’ (= crappy greens). Over-hyped courses?

You’ll have to take Saudi up with the Euro Tour or British Foreign Office. I commented on clothing. I’d like to know PGA Tour’s guidelines on clothing. Where do they draw the line? Collarless, sleeveless, tank tops?? Let them wear anything they like.
