Cowardice Discovers Character (And Common Sense): The folded and fired a top editor when their woke newsroom claimed to feel "unsafe" about a Sen. Cotton op-ed. So watching Republicans stand up to a President catches their eye.

The pushback is that capital follows labor - more workers attracts more investment, with little wage impact. But with how much friction? Its an empirical question and progressive economists have been working hard to get the "right", ie, preferred, answer.

Paul Krugman was a Man With A Plan - back in 2006. He'd never write this today but back then he linked unbridled immigration (documented or otherwise) to lower working class wages. Harder for the unskilled to get raises when their numbers increase.

Preparing to pivot? The editors exhort our nation to focus on *WAGE* growth, not economic growth. I wonder if has any suggestions?

Must be pretty high-brow culture - these guys don't seem to have even a rudimentary acquaintance with 'Law and Order'. I think even 'The Office' covers points like "Don't document your crimes".

And while you wonder how a guy that dumb manages to hold a job, contemplate Stunningly Stupid, Part II: a *WRITTEN* memo suggesting that potential evidence should be destroyed. What are phones and lunches for?!? "Paper trail" - what does it mean? Hire McKinsey and find out!

Ostensibly Smart Guys Being Stunningly Stupid, I: McKinsey advises paying rebates to pharmacies based on how many opioid deaths their customers experience. Yeah, yeah, risk-sharing, skin in the game, but it looks like a death bonus. Well, because it is.

Set the bar! Trump has a high bar to clear if he hopes to deliver a corruptly purchased pardon more offensive than Clinton/Marc Rich. Bush 41/ Weinberger arguably obstructed justice. No charges either time.

"Trust the science" *ought* to mean "Trust the scientific process". Regrettably, Vaccine Team Oxford/AZ delivered a weird kludge of smaller trials. Not good.

Bringing back firing squads would complete a circle. IIRC, after a long Federal hiatus Utah performed the first execution in years in 1977 (ish), killing Gary Gilmore by firing squad. His last words were "Let's do it." Three shooters, two firing blanks. Well. IIRC.

VERY cool. Sarah Fuller is a big strong girl and an impressive young lady. Props to her and Vandy if they do this.

Strong on defense had big Southern resonance in 1980 as well. Later morphed disastrously - some Vietnam lessons were worth remembering. To paraphrase the memorable Howard Dean, Democrats went South with a wrong-way message on guns, god and gays.

Pew from '80 to 2016 tells a similar story - Bill Clinton '92 was a turning point. *Possible* confounder - A gender gap as "College grad" includes more women? The Reagan era had to include high earning tax cut Reps. Climate change now helping Dems??

"Defund the police" and "You're damn right we'll take away your guns" are not ideas that harmonize well.

"Defund the police" and "You're damn right we'll take away you're guns" are ideas in which co-exist in tension. Fortunately, Democrats didn't explicitly run on them so no voter anywhere made that association. Well, except the ones who did.

The tells us that Director of National Intelligence nominee Haines will have to "depoliticize" the office in the wake of the last two partisan Trump defenders, Ratcliffe and Grenell. Wait'll they hear about Clapper.
