The Tesla Show
🚨🚨🚨 Unannounced details about the upcoming Model Y from a little birdie: - AWD only - $35-$40k base price - 250+ mile base model - Autopilot HW 3.5 (with the possibility of a Tesla-designed Radar system, more cameras than current AP, no LIDAR) - L4 FSD-ready from launch

The Tesla designed Radar system and more cameras is most interesting. Another fork of Autopilot hardware for sensing.

Unclear what features, if any, would be limited to the new 3.5 HW suite.

That's my question, too. If AP3 can't handle L5 with the current suite of sensors then buying FSD makes little sense. Unless the difference between L4 and L5 is strictly in what edge cases it'll handle.

Agreed. Still some risk these change, but apparently these are the engineering targets.

It may come down to if a human has to be behind the wheel, like today to monitor the system. FSD on currently shipping vehicles requires a driver in the driver seat. At some point in the future a new HW suite won’t require a driver. Current best guess.

$40K base seems reasonable.
