Lue was widely regarded as the leading candidate for the Lakers' head coaching job before talks broke down. Lue has worked alongside Rivers before and would likely join the Clippers as associate head coach

Lue won a championship in 2016 and reached the NBA Finals in his first three seasons as head coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers before his ouster six games into last season. He has previously worked on Rivers' staff with the Clippers and in Boston before that

I don’t understand why people think Lue is such a great coach. His accomplishments are a byproduct of having Lebron James and his teams

Can the Clippers hire Allen Iverson as a top assistant too and have him lead the team’s practice session?

Remember when people were pissed that Lakers didn't give him a big contract as head coach? So he takes assistant position and it's a boss move.. got it

Less work & he still gets to keep the 6+ mill $$ from Cleveland that he wouldn’t have received if he accepted the Lakers deal. Boss move indeed.

Lol wouldn’t surprise me if Balmer paid him close to as much as the lakers head coach offer, these thoughts are valid with the richest owner in American sports. No wonder the clips Front office is a dream team

He’s definitely paying the front office guys a ton of money because there is no rules on that. Head coaches are different because their contracts can’t be added onto a previous contract. Since he’s getting paid 6 mill from Cavs whatever he gets from Clipps would be taken off.
