If someone told you we’d be joint top of the league and had qualified from our Champions League group as winners with a game to spare AND that Chaomin Kelleher and Nat Phillips had both had MOTM awards in the process, you’d really wonder what the fuck was going on

For all of the challenges of this unprecedented injury crisis, the emergence of Curtis Jones has been a serious positive. To top it off, he’s as Scouse as they come. Bloody love him.

Some of us were purring over Ryan Gravenberch and his composure at 18yo, and rightly so, but Curtis is only 4 months older.

It’s a football clichΓ© for sure, but if you didn’t know who any of the players on the pitch were last night & someone told you that some of the best players on the planet were playing, you’d probably have thought that Curtis Jones was one of them.

He was pressing like a hound right until the end & he seems to have grown in not only confidence, but also physical stature since we first saw him in the first team.

We’ve always been fully aware that Curtis has talent in his feet, but there had sometimes been question marks over where he would slot in to this phenomenal side & impact games. Last night he displayed everything required from one of Klopp’s midfielders.

But aside from his game with the ball, it was his off-the-ball game that was so impressive.

He took his goal beautifully & was the width of the post away from scoring a beauty earlier on on the game.

Last night felt like a huge milestone in Curtis Jones’ Liverpool career. Not only did he look at ease in the first team, he ran the game.

Gutting for Glatzel to get another injury setback, just in time for what could have been his Champions League debut

Joint top of the league & winners of our Champions League group with a game to spare, even despite this horrific run of injuries. What a squad of players.
